5 Stars A timeless classic.
There aren’t many movies that I can watch more than once, this is one exception. The story, music and performance from the main characters are top notch. When are we going to get a Blu-Ray release or at least an anamorphic wide screen release of this movie? Patiently waiting…

5 Stars Mischa’s Debut
Having seen Mischa Barton in some of her other films and seeing that she is a good actress, I was delighted to find this one as her debut film.

Very intertaining and one that I’ll enjoy watching over and over.

5 Stars Sam Rockwell, an amazing yet under-rated actor!
Most everyone has seen the movie, “The Green Mile” and although they may not remember the actor who played the deranged, yet comical “Wild Bill”, they certainly remember the character. Rockwell is one of the rare actors that can display range. In this movie, he plays a humble, blue-collar ‘country-bumpkin’ who may not be educated or have been graced with the opportunities and status of those he mows lawns for, but nonetheless, has a keen sense of reality and truth about him. He truly brings heart to the movie and Misca Barton doesn’t do too bad of job herself. It’s a movie about friendship, societal differences/conflict, as well as the misunderstanding and prejudice that occurs when the two join. Be prepared to be have your heart-wrenched, yet lifted. A great addition to any collection.

2 Stars snooze
This movie was recommended to me by a friend who said it was “better than American Beauty” but I completely disagree. It was boring and really went nowhere. The characters were uninteresting, beyond the first 30 minutes. I lost all interest in the story and I am a movie buff and particularly a fan of quirky flicks like this *seemed* to be.

5 Stars Lawn Dogs
Prejudice, hypocrisy and rationalising of immoral and violent behaviour are not merely American vices, but common symptoms of all of us living in so-called western civilization.

This film bitingly satirises such behaviour and reminds me that all of us come sadly short of our obligations to our fellow creatures.

Sam Rockwell and Mischa Barton, supported by a strong cast, bring this sad tale to life with great charm

Beethovens 2nd

Beethovens 2nd

This 1993 sequel to the St. Bernard hit finds big, fluffy Beethoven now at home with gruff-but-lovable dad Charles Grodin, supermom Bonnie Hunt, and their three kids. The story continues with Beethoven falling for a female St. Bernard and having a litter, unbeknownst to Grodin, while the new dog’s owner (Debi Mazar) starts angling for benefits from this union. The larger dog pool certainly adds more cuteness and laughs to this follow-up, and Grodin and Hunt–consummate professionals–don’t let sequel-itis lower their energy or their wonderfully idiosyncratic way with dialogue. Mazar brings her own edge to the proceedings, too, but in the end, the film’s accent is still very much on a feel-good experience for everyone. –Tom Keogh

3 Stars Better than the first
It’s not often you can say a sequel is better than the original, but I prefer Beethoven’s 2nd to the original. It’s probably because I saw it at a certain age, what with Ryce discovering boys, I really identified with it. (Even though I couldn’t get a boy to look twice at me back then.)

This movie pretty much sticks to the same formula as the original, with Beethoven the main focus - Beethoven gets a girlfriend, Beethoven doesn’t use contraception, Beethoven becomes a daddy, Beethoven becomes a single daddy, Beethoven gets girlfriend back. You’ve heard it all before haven’t you? There’s a couple of silly & forgettable subplots here - Missy’s mistress (try saying that when you’ve had a couple!), Ryce’s potential boyfriend, the brother’s potential love interest, and the Newtons’ air freshener thing.

Really, there’s not much else to say about it. It’s a happy movie, it’s sweet, and then you’ll put it away until the next time you see a St Bernard.

3 Stars Good for the little ones
The movie is corny, implausible and poorly acted, but the puppies are incredibly cute! Little kids will love this movie if just for the puppies. If you have young children you want to keep entertained, Beethovens’ 2nd will hold their attention. Afterwards, your kids will probably start bugging you to get them a puppy.

5 Stars The continuing adventures of Beethoven
Now that the lovable St. Bernard Beethoven is enjoying life with his new masters, the Newtons,he begins to start a family of his own, biologically. Beethoven impregnates a female St. Bernard named Missy and the canine couple sire four puppies. One of is named Tchaikovsky, after another late classical music great. First,George Newton(Charles Grodin) objects to Beethoven in the Newtons’ home, then objects to the mutt’s offsprings. The Newton family agreed to find homes for the puppies after they’ve grown. George’s wife Alice(Bonnie Hunt) is now working with her husband at his air freshener factory. One memorable scene is where the Newtons take a vacation up in the mountains, with Beethoven in tow,of course. Missy belongs to a mean-spirited young woman named Regina(Debi Mazar) who is going through a divorce. After the divorce is final,Regina’s now-ex-husband is granted sole custody of Missy. The ex-hubby and Missy visit the Newtons in the last scene. This film would one of Grodin’s last. Subsequently,he co-starred with Martin Short in CLIFFORD. Grodin’s previous films include SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES,IT’S MY TURN,MIDNIGHT RUN and TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS.

5 Stars BEETHOVEN HAS FOUND A GIRLFRIEND!
i watched Beethovens 1st 2nd and 3rd and i got to say this is the best one ever. This movie is about beethoven finding a mate, but the girl (missy) gets taken away by an evil dog napper. Beethoven saves her and she had puppies, but the dog napper soon takes missy away again, now its up to the newton to save the puppies from being drowned, our worse.
I liked this movie because i like dogs and adventures, the puppies are so cute and i cant believe anyone would like to drown them,
before i go i would like to recommend this movie to anyone who likes animals, even if your not a big animals fan you still gotta see this movie

5 Stars Beethoven the 2nd!
A cute family movie that everyone is sure to enjoy! I have nto seen this forever btu I LOVED it when we had it and would watch it over and over and over again! A cuter movie is hard to find!

The Best of Ground Force Garden Rescues

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars A little disappointed
I love Ground Force… but I really want to buy the series… This DVD is just a collection of the cast fooling around with bits here and there of them doing several different lawns. It’s better than nothing…. but doesn’t really give a good overall view of what this show is all about.

2 Stars NOT WHAT I WANTED
I loved Ground Force when it came on BBC America, so I wanted some episodes, but this is just the highlights-no gardening going on!!!

Not what I wanted.

5 Stars Amazing …
I am from India and can watch this DVD again and again .. it leaves you wanting more. Alan, Charlie and Tommy are amazing. I definitely need some one like them!! I hope more DVDs are released by season or by terrain.

4 Stars Only Four Stars Because…
…a “Best Of” DVD is not enough!!! The Ground Force team is amazing — and especially so during the Titchmarsh years. I would love to sit and watch these episodes over and over again. Alan, Charlie, and Tommy are not only garden makeover geniuses, but they’ve winkled their way into the hearts of BBC America fans. Please, please, please release Ground Force in season by season compilations!

4 Stars Leaves You Hungering For More
The BBC television series Ground Force is a whole lot more than a gardening show. Like Trading Spaces, the team has 48 hours to complete their transformation, usually turning a weedy back garden into a thing of beauty in the space of 48 hours. In between this miraculous accomplishment, there is much banter, the occasional argument, and even a rare, full-blown snit. The team is marvelous, the projects imaginative, and the results always spectacular. It’s a wonderful show, much more interesting than the subject implies. Great views of Britain abound as well. However, this DVD just whets the appetite for more. DVD releases by season would be much appreciated!
